“The number is gradually increasing,” he informed the house.
The minister made the disclosure in response to a query by the lawmaker Nizam Uddin Hazari at Jatiya Sangsad in the evening.
In response to another question by Abdul Munim Chowdhury, Nasim said there is a regulation, passed in 1982, for running hospitals and diagnostic centers.
He also told the House that the government would increase the number of seats at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital to 3,100 from the current number of 2,600 seats.
