DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said two medical universities would be established in Chittagong and Rajshahi respectively with a view to providing better treatment.
The premier came up with the assertion while addressing the inaugural ceremony of newly-built outdoor complex of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in city.
Sheikh Hasina, also ruling Awami League president, said that the establishment of medical universities is essential to provide better medical treatment.
A directive has also already given to establish two medical universities in Chittagong and Rajshahi, the PM added.
She further said that a hospital with 500-bed will be allowed to set up a medical college.
Sheikh Hasina also suggested the physicians to earn the confidence of patients with cordial behavior to them.
Even, a doctor’s short gossip with a patient helps them recover the illness. It increases their mental strength that plays a positive role in recover, she also observed.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim, state minister Zahid Maleque, secretary Monjurul Islam and BSMMU vice-chancellor Dr Pran Gopal Dutta were among others present at the program.
