DHAKA: Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute organized a free eye care camp with a view to helping the destitute gaining their sight back.
Engineer Abul Kalam Shamim, Deputy Managing Director of country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, inaugurated the camp Friday at the hospital situated at Block-D of Bashundhara residential area in the capital.
Bashundhara Group Adviser (Press and Media) Mohammad Abu Tayeb, Director of Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute Dr M Saleh Ahmed and others were present in the inauguration ceremony.
Dr Saleh said cataract and other types of operations of 48 people, including 22 women, will be carried out initially.
He further said they treated some 2,000 eye patients in Titas, Meghna and Daudkandi areas. Of them, 48 were brought at Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute for operation.
The hospital authority will bear their travelling and treatment related expenses, he added.
The patients could go back after 24-hour of their operation, he added.
Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute started its journey from December of 2014 to provide poor people quality eye care.
Anyone can avail outdoor services from the hospital spending Tk 100 only and Tk 200 for specialists’ services.
