DHAKA: More than 2.40 crore children will be fed vitamin 'A' capsule through 1,40,000 centres across the country in National Vitamin A+ campaign on Saturday.
Children, aged 6 to 11 months, will be fed a blue colored vitamin A capsule and children, aged from 12 to 59 months, will be fed red colored Vitamin-A+ capsule.
State minister for health Zahid Maleque said at a press conference at the health and family welfare ministry on Thursday.
There will be 1.2 lakh permanent centres in the country . Besides, 20,000 mobile centres will be set up at bus stands, rail stations, airports, launch terminals and toll plazas of big bridges so that not a single child is left out, he said.
This campaign will go on from 8am to 4pm, he added.
The state minister said through the campaign, the rate of Vitamin-A capsule feeding has reached cent percent and night blindness disease, caused by Vitamin-A deficiency, dropped below 1 percent.
Special measures have been taken in remote areas to make the campaign a success, said the state minister.
He further said that control room will remain open whole day in every district and upazila to monitor the campaign.
