DHAKA: ‘Tree Man’ Abul Bajnadar will have the first operation at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday (February 20) to remove massive bark-like warts on his hands and feet.
Confirming the matter, DMCH burn unit coordinator Dr Samanta Lal Sen told banglanews on Friday (February 19) that Abul will be taken to OT (operation theater) around 11:00am.
He further said the operation will be conducted after a decision was taken by a nine-member medical board in this regard.
First, physicians will remove the warts from thumb and index fingers of his right hand, he added.
If successful, they will remove rest warts in subsequent operations, Dr Samanta Lal Sen added.
Earlier, health minister Mohammad Nasim said government will bear all expenses of Abul Bajnadar till his recuperation.
The warts, which first started appearing when Bajnadar was a teenager but began spreading rapidly around four years ago, have been diagnosed as epidermodysplasia verruciformis, an extremely rare genetic skin disease that makes the person susceptible to skin growths.
