DHAKA: At least 27.4 percent women of our country are suffering from breast cancer, according to the cancer registration report 2014 by National Institute of Cancer Research & Hospital.
NICRH associate professor and also epidemiology department chief associate professor Dr Habibullah Talukdar said this in a discussion at National Press Club in city on Monday (October 24).
Professor Sabira Khatun said that 17 percent cancer patients go beyond poverty line to meet the cost of the treatment.
The rate could be deceased if people come out to help each other, she added.
National Institute of Mental Health Dr Helal Uddin Ahmed said open discussions are very much important to provide mental strength to the cancer sufferers.
Lawmaker Kazi Rozi and Ekattor TV director of news Syed Ishtiaque Reza, among others, were present at the event.
