DHAKA: Around 142 people are getting infected with tuberculosis or TB disease every day in Bangladesh, according to Chest and Heart Association of Bangladesh.
Prof Dr. Biswas Akhtaruzzaman, president of the organization, was addressing a discussion on 'World Tuberculosis Day-2018' in National Press Club on Saturday (March 24).
Tuberculosis is a curable disease. Out of 16 crore people, 64 thousand four hundreds people are being infected with this disease each year. On average, it becomes 142 each day. Around one-third of the world's population has been infected with this disease, said Dr. Biswas.
Among patients, about 40% of them are not tracked down. They are out of treatment facilities. As result, 40 people out of 1 lakh die of this disease.
