DHAKA: With a major development in Indian Visa system, Bangladeshi nationals can now seek medical treatment in India using only Tourist Visa. Previously, medical treatment required Medical Visa.
For example, all types of tests, diagnosis, medicine, X-rays, CT scans, blood tests, and appointment with doctors including eye-related disease will now require no Medical Visa.
Any Bangladeshi nationals can have treatment at any hospitals in India.
However, patients inflicted with serious disease or operations, which necessitate them to get hospitalized or have operations in India, will require Medical Visa, according to a source of Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
Freedom fighters can avail special advantages in this regard.
Around 12 to 14 lakh Bangladeshis travel India every year for tourism, medical treatment and other businesses. Of them, four lakh people visit India specifically for medical treatment. India has already eased the Medical Visa for Bangladeshi citizens and now it will be much more helpful for the treatment seekers.
