DHAKA:  A Supreme Court lawyer sent a legal notice to the authorities concerned asking them to take necessary steps in 24 hours against government appointed doctors in order to stop private practice in hospitals and clinics.

Advocate Abdus Sattar Palwan served the legal notice to the health secretary, director general of Directorate General of Health Services, president of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council and president of Bangladesh Medical Association on Tuesday (January 29).

Legal action will be taken if necessary measures are not taken within the time frame, Abdus Sattar Palwan said in the notice.

Private practice of the government employed doctors, during office time, in private hospitals and clinics is not only professional misconduct, but also an offence in the eye of law, notice also said.
