DHAKA: Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) interrogated National Asthma Centre accountant Liakat Hossian and Lab Assistant Belayet Hossain over their alleged embezzlement of Tk 100 crore.

They both are the siblings of suspended accountant of Department of the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Abzal Hossain,

On January 16, the Anti graft watchdog summoned five officials of Directorate General of Health for quizzing on January 22 to inquire about earning of around Tk 100 crore.

They are- lab Attendant Belayet Hossain, accountant Liakat Hossain, high standard assistant Bulbul Islam, office assistant Shariful Islam and driver Rafiqul Islam.

Later, they sought time to ACC for appearance before it.

Earlier on January 10, ACC interrogated Abzal Hossian. 

On Jan 11, Bangla dailies Bangladesh Pratidin and Prothom Alo published reports describing how Abzal amassed huge properties with limited income.

Later on January 13, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare suspended Abzal Hossain citing media reports to state that DGHS Accountant’s wealth amount is inconsistent with his known income.
