DHAKA: Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Saturday (Feb 2) carried out a drive in Jatrabari of Dhaka and detained five persons of a syndicate over producing counterfeit medicines.

Several equipments and some drug items including insulin, sex drive pills and actrapid were seized from their possession.

On Sunday (Feb 3), DMP arranged a press briefing at its media center to disclose the matter.

The detainees were identified as Mohammad Abdus Sobhan, Mohammad Naimur Rahman Tushar, Riazul Islam Mridul, Mosammat Nargis Begum and Mohammad Wahid.

The detainees have been producing fake medicines copying the branded pharmaceutical companies for long, said DMP officials.
