DHAKA: The government is set to observe the first ever National Health Services Week, slated for April 16-20, aims at raising awareness about health.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Health Services Week at Bangabandhu International Conference Center around 10am on Tuesday (April 16).
Health Minister Zahid Malik unveiled the programe schedule on Monday (April 15) while addressing a press conference at the Secretariat ahead of the programmes.
The minister said the government has a plan to celebrate the National Health Service Week with the slogan of 'To ensure right to health services is the commitment of Sheikh Hasina'.
In order to observe the week, a number of programs have been taken at national, district and upazila level, said the minister.
The programmes include rally, publication of special supplements, screening video documentaries, blood donation, cleanliness drives, free medical treatment, special medical services and special outdoor services by specialist doctors.
State Minister for Health Murad Hassan, Secretary of Health Services Mohammad Asadul Islam, Secretary of Health Education and Family Welfare Department GM Saleh Uddin and Director General of Health Department Abul Kalam Azad, were, among others present at the press meet.
