DHAKA: The authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) have postponed recruiting Medical Officers (MOs) amid escalating unrest due to job-seekers' protest.

"The recruiting process has been postponed temporarily. Rest decisions will be finalized at the meeting of syndicate committee," BSMMU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanak Kanti Barua told Banglanews Tuesday (June 11).

The decision has been taken in a bid to keep the varsity's image exalted, he said.

On Monday (June 10), viva voce to 20 candidates who passed the written tests for MO and Dental Surgeon posts, took place.

As many as 15 protesting job-seekers, who have been staging demonstrations claiming massive corruption in the recruitment test, were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after they were baton-charged and obstructed by police and ansar members Sunday (June 9).

The appointment has been cancelled. We demand re-test and fast resignation of the BSMMU VC. Our demonstration will continue until realizing the demands, a group of job-seekers said preferring anonymity.
