DHAKA: The High Court directed all pharmacies not to sell and distribute any antibiotics for animals and asked farmers to refrain from feeding antibiotics to cows without the prescription of a veterinary doctor .
In public interest, the HC has also issued a rule on why the BSTI-registered milk production companies will not be directed to form a fund for milk adulteration test and research.
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam on Tuesday (July 16) gave the order.
Apart from this, the court asked the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) to submit report before it by July 28 on what action it has taken against adulteration of milk, curd and cattle feed.
The BFSA examined Pasteurized Milk of several companies at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, BCSIR, Plasma Plus, Wafen Research, Atomic Energy Commission and ICDDRB Lab.
Led and cadmium have found in milk of some of these companies.
