DHAKA: Health Minister Zahid Maleque said Dengue situation is worsening across the country. The outbreak of Dengue has been reported in all districts of the country except Netrokona.
"We are not just providing services to the Dengue patients at the hospitals, but we are trying to destroy the breading places of aedes mosquitoes. The city corporations have sprayed two kinds of mosquito repellents. In the last 24 hours, 1,447 patients were admitted to the hospital with dengue," he said.
The minister was answering the questions to reporters after the inter-ministerial meeting with the Mayor and distinguished physicians of the North and South - two city corporations at the Secretariat on Thursday (August 1).
He said the Health Ministry is working to control dengue under the guidance of the Prime Minister. She is constantly inquiring about country’s dengue situation. The situation will come under control soon. All concerned are working together.
Zahid Maleque said, “We have increased the number of beds in the hospital. Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute and Sheikh Russell Institute have been kept standby if necessary.”
“In each district, we have informed civil surgeons how to treat the dengue patient. Our 29 specialist doctors are visiting all over Bangladesh. They will go to each district. A booklet has been made to treat the dengue patient. It is being delivered to the private hospitals along with all district hospitals. Dengue drugs are being brought from overseas country’.
Besides, it is decided to cancel the leave of all the officers of the ministry during Eid-ul-Azha. With these initiatives, dengue can be brought under control quickly, he added.
Some 17,163 dengue affected people have been admitted to hospitals So far, and after completing the treatment, 12,266 people have been released from hospitals. As per health ministry info, there are currently 4903 dengue patients admitted to the government and private hospitals. Fourteen people died of dengue so far.
