DHAKA: The number of dengue patients has surpassed 50,000 in history's largest outbreak of the mosquito-borne viral fever in Bangladesh.
National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) and Control Room of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the information.
Since January to Saturday (August 17), as many as 51,476 dengue patients have been hospitalized across the country. Of them, 43,580 left hospitals following treatment. And 40 have died.
Now 7,856 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals. Of them, Dhaka division has 4,043 and other divisions 3,813.
In last 24 hours, as many as 1,460 patients have been hospitalized. Of them, 621 are in Dhaka city.
