DHAKA: Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said beds of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) would be doubled at all public hospitals across.
Besides, 25-bed dialysis center will be opened in this year, he said.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural programme of 100-bed stroke unit at National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in city’s Agargaon area on Monday (January 6).
This initiative will be implemented to mark the ‘Mujib Year,’ ensuring proper treatment of the countrymen,” he said.
The minister said 5,000 more doctors and 15,000 new nurses would be recruited soon for minimizing the manpower shortage in providing health services.
Director of the hospital Dr Quazi Deen Mohammad presided over the function while Secretary of the ministry Asadul Islam and Director General (DG) of health services Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad were present, among others.
