DHAKA: As many as 57 people have died of cold-related disease in this current winter season.
So far in the current winter season, 66,187 people countrywide have been treated after being inflicted with respiratory problems. However, 1, 60483 people have been infected with diarrhea while 1, 90,329 have received medical treatment for cold-related disease.
Dr. Ayesha Akhter, Assistant Director of Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room under Directorate General of Health Services told Banglanews on Wednesday (January 22).
22 people have died of respiratory problems, 5 of diarrhea and 30 of cold-related disease. Other illnesses include jaundice, asthma, eye inflammation, psoriasis and fever, Dr. Ayesha Akhter also told Banglanews.
The highest number of those who have been affected and died of these winter diseases is from Dhaka city and different areas of Dhaka Division. The rate is low in other divisions, she added.
