DHAKA: Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said Bangladesh will get the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine first on priority basis if China develops it.
He also said, “China has been working to develop the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine and also progressed a lot.”
It has been informed on behalf of Chinese government. During the outbreak of coronavirus in China, Bangladesh stood beside them. Accordingly, China will extend its cooperation to Bangladesh.
Zahid Maleque made the disclosure at a press briefing on Monday at the VIP lounge of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital while seeing off a 10-member delegation of Chinese physicians, who visited here for sharing experiences regarding battle against coronavirus.
He also said 2000 more doctors would be appointed, if the rate of coronavirus infection continues to rise.
Regarding the tour of Chinese delegation in Bangladesh, the health minister said they have expressed their satisfaction over the works of Bangladesh in tackling coronavirus.
The Chinese experts also underscored the need for more improvement in some areas in connection with the activities for prevention of coronavirus in the country, Zahid Maleque added.
