DHAKA: A Dhaka court has placed managing director of Shahabuddin Medical College Hospital Faisal Al Islam, assistant director Abul Hasnat and storekeeper Shahriz Kabir on a five-day remand each in a case filed over conducting illegal Covid-19 tests in the hospital.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam passed the order on Tuesday afternoon (July 21) after police produced them before court with a seven-day remand prayer.
Earlier in the day, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) handed Faisal, a son of the SMCH Chairman Md Shahabuddin, over to Gulshan police station.
The elite police unit arrested Faisal from a hotel in Banani on Monday night (July 20).
On Monday, RAB filed a case against the Managing Director Faisal Al Islam, Assistant Director Dr Md Abul Hasnat, Inventory Officer Shariz Kabir Saad of Shahabuddin Medical College Hospital over alleged Covid-19 testing scam.
The raid was conducted as the hospital was carrying out illegal anti-body tests of Covid-19 patients.
