One of the key persons in office who`s unavoidable would be your boss. It`s easy to stop communicating with other colleagues should you dislike them, but the same is not true in case of a boss. While some bosses are genuine and nice, others are what you call kadoos! Let`s take a look at some of them...
Miss Missing: She`s the boss, but never seen in her cabin or in any part of the office premises. She often steps out on the pretext of official duty which is untrue. Yet, she survives in the organization for she has the support of her team and her loyal chamchi to cover up for her in times of crisis.
Task master: He`s not good with work himself. Every person in office knows that. However, he`s the longest surviving member in the organization thanks to his managerial skills. He`s a great task master and a terror in office. He knows how to get things done on time from employees. Thus, the management will never let go of him as long as the work is being done.
Ruthless: You hate her from Day 1. The boss will flaunt her designation at every given opportunity. You feel like a nobody and a slave. She will never approve your leaves or help you if there`s crisis at work. Don`t expect her to sympathise with you even if there`s a family emergency. She`s merciless and will still expect you to show up at office.
Friendly: He`s the kind of boss that every employee dreams of working with. He`s nice, understanding and might also offer help when needed. He`s the person you can rely on for anything. He`s a person who can even do work on your behalf when need arises. He will go out of his way to help you and be nice to you. He`s more a friend than a boss and it`s fun to be with him or having him around in the office. You look forward to work everyday.
The devil wears Pardah: She`s nice to you. Whenever you go to her with a problem, her instant reply is very reassuring. You end up feeling you did the best thing approaching her. But wait till you get the bad news. She`s the one with the mask. She makes people think she`s approachable and nice. However, on the other side, she uses someone else to convey the message that it`s simply not done. Result: You still think she`s nice and cannot do much as she has to obey the orders of her manager. You start feeling sorry for her instead of hate her. She`s not the one to outrightly refuse your proposal, but she will let someone else do the job for her to save her pretty face from any scars.
Kadoos: You love to hate her. She`s dumbness personified and the worst thing is she makes it obvious through her talk and makes you wonder how on earth she clinched the top post. She adds fuel to fury by frequently showing off her ignorance. If she can`t answer your question, she simply shrugs it off with a laugh. Bottom line, she`s a misfit and you can`t help but frown at the management for the bad catch!
Professional: She leads by example. This kind of boss will not ask you to be punctual, but will make you embarrassed by coming in first and leaving work from office. She knows how to instil discipline in the team She`s a true professional. She can be nice and at the same time knows where to draw the line and be tough. She wouldn`t interfere as long as you deliver work on time.
Robot: All that he can think of is work and only work. Even if you happen to meet him outside office, he might end up asking you about the pending report. He simply means business and cannot be expected to empathize with you in any situation. He`s mechanically tuned himself to carry out responsibilities and expects the same from you too. Work is his priority and you will rarely spot him discussing anything else in life.
Monster: He uses the choicest of words to insult you. No matter how hardworking and sincere you are, you will still get a hearing from him. His words are in no way motivating. He`ll let you make mistakes and you feel like you are being targeted. You feel miserable and worthless with such people around and your self-confidence taking a beating. You begin to feel the sooner you are out of this place, the better.
Moral booster: Feel like a dud?Fret not! for your boss knows you well. She will exploit your strengths and makes you work hard on your weaknesses. She knows where exactly your aptitude lies and changes your profile so you enjoy what you are doing. You suddenly become more productive and realize your true potentiality.
Self-centric: He`s egoistic and all about himself. He loves to make you work and take credit for no contribution of his. You fail to get recognition for your work, but you help him move up the corporate ladder!
Fleece thief: She`s often caught misusing office funds for personal reasons. For instance, she might use the petty cash meant for official use to dine out with friends. She will use office phone to make personal calls, steal office stationery. She might also use her position to get favours to suit her convenience.
Good-for-nothing: He will talk about every other thing except work. You can find him constantly busy on the phone, emailing, face booking, tweeting and wasting time discussing his love life. You can see the company`s doomsday approaching.
