Stress is a part of everyone`s life. But that does not mean you have to let stress take over your life. It is almost impossible to have control over everything that happens to you. However, overreacting to a situation or becoming frazzled or distraught does not change things.
What is stress?
Stress is when you think you cannot handle the pressure or demands placed on you be it at work, home or in a relationship. Though stress can be challenging at times, driving you to get things done or reach deadlines, extreme stress can lead to severe health problems. Sweat it out
Exercises benefit your body as well as your mind. Make sure you exercise for at least 20 minutes every day. A session of walking, running, swimming dancing , yoga or any form of relaxation techniques can help restore your body and mind to a relaxed state. Being fit and healthy also helps you deal with stressful situations better. Get enough sleep
Lack of sleep can lead to stress. On the other hand, stress also interrupts your sleep as thoughts keep revolving in your head, stopping you from relaxing.
Learn to manage your time
Sometimes you may feel that you have too many things to do and not enough time. This can lead to stress. Make a `to do` list and prioritise your tasks. Once this list is made divide the work and delegate it when ever it is possible.
Schedule `Me` time
Sure there`s a lot of things to do groceries to buy, clothes to wash, bills to pay etc. However, if you do not have the energy or interest to do any of these chores, nothing on your `to do` list will get checked. So, make sure you schedule some `Me` time for yourself. Take a walk, a long warm bath, listen to your favourite music or meditate, but remember to make time for yourself only you!
