We all know we should exercise and eat right (minus the occasional treat, right ladies?), but those can seem like giant obstacles to overcome. It doesn`t have to be as difficult as you`re making it out to be.
Tasty, easy and fun ways to keep healthy
But there are small actions you can take to better your health every single day. Heck, maybe these small steps will eventually lead you to choose the kale chips over the potato chips.
1
Eat green veggies
And it doesn’t have to be a chore. If green veggies just aren`t your bag, skip the raw stuff. Veggies like Brussels sprouts, broccoli and asparagus can easily be roasted to crisp deliciousness in the oven when tossed in olive oil and cooked at a high temperature. Green veggies and leafy greens are high in vitamins B and D, which have their benefits beyond the internal. Both vitamins are great for your skin and promote collagen, therefore reducing the onset of skin aging.
2
Drink your wine
Heyo! Like we needed an Wine bottle | Sheknows.comexcuse to drink wine. One glass, at least. Red wine specifically is high in antioxidants and resveratrol, which prevents damage to blood vessels, reduces the “bad” cholesterol and prevents blood clots, according to Mayo Clinic. Sure, drinking to excess can cause liver damage, but the occasional glass or two of red wine has too many health benefits to deny.
3
Eat your turmeric
Turmeric, a spice primarily used in curry, is an earthy, fragrant flavor and all-around healthy add-in to everyday meals. The taste is light, and for some people, practically imperceptible. It can be sprinkled on food to stave off hunger or used in coffee or tea for multiple health benefits, including cancer prevention and aiding a multitude of ailments, like headaches, cough, menstrual problems, heartburn, stomach pain and more. Heck, you can even mix it up with some yogurt and honey for a rockin’ anti-acne facial mask.
4
Move more
That doesn’t mean you need to go for a one-hour jog. You just need to get off the couch! Get up and clean those floors, take an easy walk through the mall or just do jumping jacks as you binge watch “Say Yes to the Dress” on Netflix. It doesn’t have to be complex, but you need to move those muscles. Even fidgeting can help you burn calories, so store up that nervous energy and let it all out.
5
Get your freak on
Seriously! Sex helps you and your partner bond, making your relationship stronger and your happiness levels higher, which leads to a long, happy life. Plus, you’re also getting some sexy cardio outside the gym, which can help you burn calories and if you do it enough, lose weight in the long term.
