Laser therapies for arms, legs, back and the bikini area have been around for sometime.
But a new form of treatment called the laser facial does more than just treat hair related issues. This treatment came into the limelight when Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston reportedly confessed to being a laser facial addict, and attributed the glow of her complexion to this treatment.
How does laser facial work for you
Laser facial is known to not only reduce hair growth, but also treats acne, pigmentation marks and reduces open pores. Says beautician Divita Kanoria, "If one is suffering from any skin imperfections, laser facial helps to get rid of those marks, blemishes and scars that has formed over the years. It also treats ageing skin by reducing fine lines and wrinkles."
What are its Benefits
It targets the deep layers below the skin's surface, thus reducing any sort of skin imperfections.
It exfoliates the skin making it look clearer and smoother.
It is pain-free and reportedly lasts for almost five to six months.
The longevity of this treatment is said to be much more than chemical peels or microdermabrasion.
It tightens the skin and helps reduce open pores.
It comparatively reduces facial hair.
What to watch out for
Says beautician Shahnaz Husain, "The therapist has to be extremely careful while doing laser on the face, especially when it comes in contact with the eyes, it can have damaging effects." Some of the other things to remember are:
One shouldn't immediately step out in the sun after getting a facial laser treatment done.
If one has sensitive skin, the treatment may cause some sort of redness or swelling on the face.
It can cause hypo or hyper pigmentation if the laser lights penetrate deeper than usual.
