Want to rock a red-carpet hairdo but don't want to look OTT? Then the slicked-back hairstyle is for you. Here are ways to get your hair looking slick:
- This do is best worn when your hair isn't freshly washed. But if you have washed your hair, then use hair products that give your mane texture and grip.
- You can also style your hair in this fashion when it's still damp after a shower. Comb your hair back when it's still wet and then spritz on lots of hairspray. This way, your hair will also have some volume.
- Don't slick your hair back too severely. Try and make your do look as natural as possible by using a flexible styling cream or mousse, and a wide-tooth comb to apply it.
- Puff your hair up a bit in the front so that it doesn't look too fine, and if you want to add volume and height to your hair. If you want to give your do an edgier look, give it a defined parting.
- Longer hair is best slicked back into a low ponytail. Wear discreet pins if you need to keep it in place.
Accessories to wear:
- This style leaves your ears and neck exposed, so you'll need to wear accessories. Statement earrings or neckpieces (only one or the other) are the best complements to this do. You could also wear an oversized brooch, like Kim Kardashian.
- You can also wear hair accessories like a hair band or a turban.
Tip: People who have round faces ideally need their hair to frame their faces to make them look less round. So a slick-backed hairdo isn't ideal for them. However, slicked-back hair is worn best on thin, straight hair as it's easier to style than thick or wavy hair.
