Best foot forward

Ladies, if there is ever a perfect time to put that proverbial ‘best foot forward’ it is on your wedding day. Every bride-to-be intends to step into the new chapter of her life wearing the best of what compliments her style. Clearly no one wants to make any mistake with their wedding day look! And we at BB couldn’t let you risk that, so read on as we enlist 5 footwear mistakes to avoid at your wedding.

Not getting used to your wedding shoe

Trying on a shoe at a store and putting it away to wear it straight on your wedding day for the first time is a huge mistake. You don’t want to end up wobbling or dealing with blisters amidst all the wedding frenzy! Wear your wedding shoes and walk around the house, allow them to get used to your feet and visa-versa. This way you won’t be at the risk of an unpleasant surprise at the eleventh hour.

Picking pretty over comfort

You can’t expect an Indian wedding function to wrap up within hours. A standard of four to five hours is a bracket you need to consider, which is why comfort should be your priority! And if walking around in heels can hinder you from enjoying your own wedding then opt for comfortable wedges. Or you can keep a pair of heels for the stage and slip into comfortable flats when walking around or shaking a leg.

Not keeping a spare pair

Things can go wrong, your heels can break or can make your feet hurt. And for all you know you might prefer heels for photos but platform sandals for dancing. Either way, keeping a spare pair of shoes just in case something goes wrong, is always a good idea. After all – what are your BFFs and bridesmaids for?

Forgetting to pamper your feet

Irrespective of what kind of shoe you’re opting for, you need your feet to look pretty. You don’t want a not-so-manicured peeping toe to spoil the rest of your look, right? Therefore a pedicure or rather a full foot spa is a basic bridal necessity, and especially for an Indian bride who has jewelry adorned even on her toes and ankles.

Don’t splurge on something you can’t use again

Over spending on a shoe that might not even show from under your lehenga is not a feasible choice to make. Plus if you choose a shoe so extravagant that you can’t wear it again then it is a dead investment. So might want to make a wiser choice and opt for something that you’re likely to put to good use even after your wedding day.

Opt for an apt pair

Make sure all your shoes for all the wedding functions are appropriate to the occasion and the dress. Keep it light and flat for your Haldi and Mehendi functions for obvious reasons but opt for a comfortable platform heel or a gorgeous flat for your Sangeet night so you can dance the night away. For your Wedding and Reception functions too, choose and pick your shoes in accord with the kind of wedding you are having.
