Joining the ranks of bizarre highlighting techniques like clown contouring and strobing, tontouring —tan contouring — is the latest trend in face sculpting.
Instead of using a regular bronzer or makeup powder on your cheekbones, it involves using a fake tan product to give you a more natural look. Developed by Dublin-based beauty entrepreneur Marissa Carter, tontouring is easy to maintain as it doesn't involve any makeup products. Because it doesn't wash off, this semi-transparent chiselled look will last anywhere between four to five days.
How to do it right
- For best results, use a gradual tanning moisturiser for a gentle glow all over the face and neck. This will give your skin a base, so that the darker tanning product that you apply next, won't look too harsh on the skin.
-Next, apply a darker shade of tan to the top of your forehead. Use an angled contouring brush to apply the same tanner near the hairline. Blend well.
- To contour your cheekbones, add a swipe of the dark tanner under it and blend. You can also use your fingertips instead of a brush.
- Add a little bit of the tanner on the tip and sides of the nose to define it.
- Once you're done with tontouring your face, wait for the tanners to develop over the next couple of hours.
