7 lesser known uses of baking soda

No doubt baking soda works wonder in food that you cook but these are few of its other uses apart from cooking in the kitchen.

1. Take a pinch of baking soda and mix it with warm water. Use this solution to wash fresh fruits and vegetables. It will rid them of dirt and pesticides.

2. Use baking soda to clean cutlery. Just sprinkle some on the utensils with stains and scrub them clean using little water. Finally give them a final wash.

3. Keeping baking soda in an open container in the fridge helps to remove bad smell.

4. Add one tsp of baking soda to warm water and use it to wipe dirty surfaces and metal parts like kitchen taps.

5. Make a mixture with 1 cup of baking soda and vinegar each and scrub it on any surface which has rusted. The rust stains will disappear.

6. Toys made of plastic and rubber can be cleaned in a mixture of baking soda and water. Wash it with regular water and let them dry.

7. Add a heaped tablespoon of baking soda to your white clothes while washing and see them shining bright.
