DHAKA: The embassy of Republic of Korea in Dhaka is continuously assisting to improve the relationship between Korea and Bangladesh in cultural exchange program.
As part of the cultural exchange program the embassy organized the ‘Charm of Korean Cuisine’ program in Dhaka. Professor Park and her two students from Woosong University visited Bangladesh from December 19 to 22.
The cooking program, on Bangladeshi private TV channel Rtv and special training session for the student of National Hotel Management and Tourism Institute held on December 21 to 22 respectively, said a press release.
According to the release, Korean cuisine is largely based on rice, vegetables, and meats. Traditional Korean meals are noted for the number of side dishes that accompany steam-cooked short-grain rice.
Kimchi is almost always served at every meal. Commonly used ingredients include sesame oil, doenjang, soy sauce, salt, garlic, ginger, pepper flakes and gochujang. Meals are regulated by Korean cultural etiquette.
On December 21, Korean Cuisine show was recorded in the studio of Rtv. Park showed how to prepare some delicious foods which are Gimbab, Japchae, Kimchi, Bibimbap, Bulkoki, Chickn Kang jeong, Emperor Teokbokki, Samgye-tang on that program.
The Rtv will telecast four special episode of Charm of Korean Cuisine, which will starts from the mid of January.
Moreover, the Korean embassy organized a special training program for the students of National Hotel & Tourism Training Institute (NHTTI) on December 22. As many as 150 students from NHTTI attended Charm of Korean Cuisine and enjoy this program. They learned how to make the Korean foods. Professor Park cooked Korean foods and share her experience with students.
Seven Korean restaurants and Korean marts are available at Gulshan in Dhaka with Korean foods and necessary items. The shops provide great opportunity to the Bangladeshi people to test the Korean cuisine very easily.
