DHAKA: This week’s beauty tip is on ‘Brown Eye Shadow’. Take your makeup box and try…
Brown Eye Shadow
While red hair never fails to make a statement in itself, finding a complementary shadow colour can be tricky.
Too-light hues can leave you looking washed out, while a dramatic smoky eye tends to dominate a look.
British-American actress and author Julianne Moore mastered the balance at the Los Angeles premiere of Carrie, where her makeup artist Elaine Offers swapped the tried-and-true noir shades for a soft, russet-toned brown.
‘Smoky eyes and pale lips seemed like the perfect choice to play off of her sleek hair and white Givenchy gown,’ she told InStyle.
‘It’s a very clean and modern look.’
To start, Offers used a brown liner by L’Oreal along the star’s upper and lower lash lines, applying it like a cream shadow.
‘I smudged it, then set it with a brown eye shadow,’ she said.
The sexy, smoldering effect was continued by sweeping the same liner along Moore’s waterline, and to prevent the effect from being overdone, Offers added a subtle highlight with a frosty white shadow.
‘The colour was used to illuminate her inner eye corners, and two coats of a black mascara finished the look,’ Offers said.
