Mohammad Abdul Momen, Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has resigned from his post.
Momen submitted his resignation letter to the Ministry of Public Administration on 8 December.
The ministry forwarded it to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus the next day, where it was promptly accepted, according to ministry sources.
In his resignation letter, Momen cited "personal reasons" for his decision.
However, sources indicate he may be poised to take over as Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which is believed to be the underlying motive for his departure from his current role.
Following the fall of the Awami League government, the interim administration elevated Abdul Momen to Senior Secretary on 17 August and assigned him to the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs. He officially assumed the position on 18 August. Additionally, on 1 October, he was entrusted with the responsibilities of the Security Services Division within the same ministry.
