Ultra runner Imamur Rahman became the first Bangladeshi who successfully touched the finish line in the 100 km category of the UTMB Ultra Trail Marathon that held in Thailand recently, said a press release.
In the 100 km category, the total distance was 96 km and the altitude was about 5100 meters. Imamur Rahman completed this tough challenge with a time of 26:48:13 hours.
The event was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from Friday December 6-8. UTMB certified runners from around 85 countries participated in the event.
Imamur had to pass Chiang Mai's Wat Phra That Doikham Temple, Bhubing Palace, Khun Chang Khian, Hue Tueng Thao Reservoir, Mae Sa Elephant Camp, Doi Pui Summit, Doi Pha Klong, Homanggram, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple to complete the race.
The young runner said last year he participated in this same event and encountered a serious accident after completing sixty eight kilometers and had to come back without finishing the race, but nothing could stop him.
This time he came to the track more prepared than last time and finished the race successfully and hoisted the flag of Bangladesh in a high.
He also said that it was his dream to reach the finish line of 100 km ultra trail marathon of UTMB event as the first Bangladeshi and he eventually able to do the task.Imamur said that although he started running as a marathoner for a long time, he has been involved with UTMB for several years.
Imamur Rahman completed Dhaka Marathon, Phuket 100km Ultra Marathon, Udonpit Run and Pattaya Marathon and Amsterdam Marathon this year after his success in Vietnam Ultra Trail Marathon and Portugal Super Half Series last year.
The young ultra trail marathon runner is ready to represent the country by participating in more international marathons, ultras and ultra trail marathons in the future.
