Khokan’s remand, bail denied

DHAKA: A Dhaka court Friday rejected the remand and bail pleas of opposition BNP Joint Secretary General Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan.

Earlier in the afternoon, detective police produced him before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court and sought 10-day remand.

After the hearing, magistrate Tasruzzaman rejected the bail plea and gave permission to quiz at jail gate within 10 working days.

Allude to Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan was arrested from city’s Segunbagicha area on Thursday afternoon.

Detective Branch (DB) of Metropolitan police held him around 4:20pm and later he was taken to DB office in the city.

He was nabbed for his instigating speeches against the polls-time government.

The BNP leader is a general secretary of Supreme Court Bar Association and lawmaker from Noakhali-1 constituency.
