DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is ready to come out of her Gulshan residence to reach her ‘March for democracy’ programme venue at capitals’ Nayapaltan on Sunday.
Party sources said her car was also prepared for journey toward Nayapaltan.
Earlier, Khaleda Zia was scheduled to go to Nayapaltan to join ‘March for Democracy’ at 10:30 am. Later, she deferred her journey for two hours.
BNP Assistant Office Secretaries Asadul Karim Shaheen and Abdul Latif Jony said that party has changed its decision for sudden additional police deployment around party chief’s Gulshan residence.
Party sources said that though police put barricade around her residence, the BNP chief is taking preparation to go to Nayapaltan. Even she is ready to go on foot to join the ‘March for Democracy’.
The sources also said that BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and others senior leaders of the party took position in houses in Nayapaltan areas to join in the rally.
Gulshan Thana Officer-in-Charge Noor-e-Alam told banglanews, “Police took the position in the area to ensure security of BNP Chairperson’s residence centering 18-party’s program ‘March for democracy’ towards Dhaka.”
Meanwhile, ten platoons of police forces were deployed in the area.
Earlier, a team of pro-BNP journalists met the opposition leader Khaleda Zia when she expressed her determination that by hook or crook she would join the mass rally.
