Cop among 50 injured in Rangpur

RANGPUR: At least 50 people, including law enforcers and journalists, were injured in a clash between BNP and its front organizations, with police in the Paira Chattor (intersection) area of the district sadar around 2:00pm Sunday.

Of the injured, Constable Zia Ul, My TV journalist Raju and a journalist of a local paper Mominul Islam Ripon were identified.

Police and local sources said district Jubo Dal President Baskar hurled a cocktail aiming police when they tried to prevent a protest procession that BNP and its front organizations’ activists brought up.

The clash erupted as police started charging batons to disperse the procession.

Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Thana Sahab Uddin told banglanews that they held Baskar from the spot.
