DHAKA: At least three lawyers were injured as they locked clash with activists of ruling Awami League in Supreme Court area on Sunday afternoon.
Sources said thousands of Awami League activists broke into the Supreme Court main gate and chased the lawyers at the court building that left three lawyers injured.
Earlier in the day, police used water canons and other instruments to disperse the BNP-backed lawyers who protested and gave slogans for the whole day in support of BNP-led 18-party’s ‘March for Democracy’ programme.
During the time, the AL activists set fire to a motorbike and threw brick chips aiming the lawyers at the court building.
Police tried to disperse the agitated lawyers with water canons and colored water.
Vice-chairman of BNP Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, advisor to the party’s Chairperson Dr Osman Faruk and Bar Council vice-chairman Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, also advisor to the chairperson, along with a large number of outsiders were present.
