Indefinite blockade from Wednesday

DHAKA: Opposition BNP-led 18-party alliance has called for indefinite blockade across the country from Wednesday morning demanding cancellation of one-party polls.

Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, Adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, made the announcement of the fresh anti-government programme at Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital on Monday night.

The blockade will start from 6:00am on January 1 and will continue until their demand is met.

Besides, the opposition alliance will stage countywide demonstration on Tuesday protesting government’s obstruction in ‘March for Democracy’.

The senior lawyer of the Supreme Court alleged that the incumbent “illegal government” arrested opposition politicians, lawyers including freedom fighters and torturing them to kill democracy.

He urged party and countrymen to make the peaceful blockade a success and endure all repression of government for the sake of democracy.
