Khandaker Mahbub apprehends civil war

DHAKA: Opposition BNP Khandaker Mahbub Hossain on Monday the country is apprehending for ‘possible civil war’ as the law-and-order situation deteriorated.

The Bar Council Vice-Chairman came up with the observation while taking to journalists at its office in the afternoon.

He strongly criticized the attacks on lawyers and Supreme Court by outsiders on Sunday. “We got astonished on the reaction of law enforcers and chief justice after the attack,” he said.

Khandaker Mahbub said the attackers demolished the dignity of the apex court and democracy of the country. “So, the invaders should be detected and get penalization within a shorter while, to regain the democracy in the country,” he said.

He further said the democracy is absent in the country at this moment. If the election holds on January 5, then the democracy will be demolished forever.

Khandaker Mahbub asked two major political parties to sit together to restore peace and avert further crises in the country.

“This is the high time Army came forward to prevent such harassment,” he said.
