DHAKA: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 framed charge against Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Amir Abdus Sobhan for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity in 1971.
The ICT has fixed January 28 for placing the opening statement of prosecution against Sobhan.
The three-member tribunal headed-by Justice ATM Fazle Kabir passed the order on Tuesday.
A total of nine allegations including abduction, confinement, torture, killing, superior responsibility, conspiracy and genocide were brought against Abdus Sobhan.
On September 20 in 2012, Sobhan was arrested following a warrant issued against him by a Pabna court.
Later, he was shown arrested in the case of committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
According to the prosecution, Sobhan was the Pabna chapter Jamaat Ameer just before the liberation war and had formed Peace Committee, Al-Badr and Razakar (collaborating forces) in his locality and committed crimes against humanity there.
