DHAKA: Law enforcement agencies, in joint drives, nabbed a total 95 BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists from different parts of the country amid BNP led 18-party called nationwide indefinite blockade on Wednesday.
In Gazipuir, BNP-Jamaat activists torched a pickup van on Dhaka-Kapasia road in Rajendrapur rail line area in the very beginning of the New Year.
Police arrested 10 people allegedly involved in the violence.
In Comilla, law enforcers in special drive detained six BNP-Jamaat activists from different parts of the district.
In Chandpur, police arrested 16 leaders and activists of BNP-Jamaat including Matlab (South) municipality unit Jamaat Ameer Golam Mawla from Baburhaat, Hajiganj and Matlab of the district town for their alleged involvement in subversive activities.
In Sylhet, some 37 BNP-Jamaat men were arrested in a special drive by law enforcement agencies from different parts of the district and city.
In Satkhira, a joint force consisting police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested six BNP-Jamaat activists from different areas of the district.
In Noakhali, police in a special drive nabbed nine BNP-Jamaat activists from different upazilas for their alleged involvement in sabotage.
In Chittagong, police held a Shibir leader from Lohagara upazila of the district with two locally made firearms.
