DHAKA: The indefinite blockade, called by BNP-led 18-party alliance, is underway across the country for the second straight day on Thursday amid stray incidents of cocktails explosion.
Miscreants exploded a pair of cocktails at Topkhana road near to the secretariat on Thursday morning, the second day of indefinite blockade called by BNP-led 18-party alliance.
Witnesses said two cocktails were blasted in front of Boishakhi Restaurant of Topkhana road at around 7:45am.
Meanwhile, some activists Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, brought out a brisk procession in support of indefinite blockade called by 18-party alliance in Shipahibagh area in the capital early hours of the day.
Later, they tried to create panic among locals by exploding some cocktails.
Law enforcers were seen on alert position in capital’s Jurain, Dholaipar, Jatrabari, Sayedabad, Motijheel, Malibagh, Kamalapur areas to avert subversive acts.
Passenger bus, CNG and battery run vehicles were seen plying throughout the city streets.
Earlier on Monday night, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Advocate Khandakar Mahbub Hossain, in a press conference, announced the blockade program for indefinite period from Wednesday.
