BNP delegation meets President

DHAKA: A delegation of BNP Parliamentary Party met with President Abdul M Hamid and asked him to intervene to free Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia from ‘confinement’ at her residence.

The BNP lawmakers asked the President to clear the matter whether the Opposition Leader was arrested or confined.

After the meeting, opposition chief whip Zainul Abdin Farroque was briefing journalists.

Expressing hope, the senior lawmaker said the President assured that he would request the government to clarify the matter.

Regarding the elections, he did not disclose anything. “The ongoing movement programme will continue to prevent the polls,” he told the journalists.

Mohammad Harunur Rashid, ABM Ashraf Uddin Nizan, Nazimuddin Ahmed, Rehena Akhter Ranu, Syeda Asifa Ashrafi Papia, Nilufar Chowdhury Moni and Rasheda Begum Hira MP accompanied Zainul Abdin Farroque.
