DHAKA: Terming the upcoming 10th parliamentary polls as farce one, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia urged countrymen to boycott the elections.
She made the plea in a written statement through mass media on Friday afternoon.
Khaleda said, “People of the country are democratic and they know very well that a one sided election is going to hold by shameless and autocratic Awami League.”
“I urge to all people in the country to boycott the mockery polls on January 5 as it is a plot to ruin country’s democratic history, constitution and our struggle for a democratic Bangladesh,” she added.
According to the statement the BNP chief rebuffed Awami League as an autocratic and fascist party with voracious character for capturing state power at any cost using state organs like law enforcing agencies.
She also said, “We can not move against people’s right of vote and opinion by taking part in the election which is already proved as utterly biased.”
