DHAKA: Awami League government is not ready to spend money behind creating International opinion in favor of carrying on the trial of the war criminals.
“We don’t need to spend money in UK and USA because our leaders in those countries are enough to lobby with lords and parliamentarians or the congressmen and senetors. Despite spending millions of dollars behind the International influences, Jamaat has failed to make any success to stop the trial against war criminals,” Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, told all these to Banglanews.
Banglanews was holding the exclusive talk with Joy at Syedpur Airport Friday noon when the PM’s son was coming back to Dhaka from Peerganj of Rangpur district after campaigning for her mother, who is running 10th JS poll from that constituency.
Awami League has the strength of desire to conclude this trial as it is the election pledge of this party. Moreover the trial of the war criminals is the demand of people of the country. And I believe, this is the real strength, Joy said.
The activists of Awami League residing in USA and UK are playing more fruitful role than the huge money spender Jamaat clique. These Awami League activists are obtaining supports of the leaders of US Senate, Congress and parliament members of UK in support of the war crime trials, he added.
What Jamaat has done by spending huge money behind the lobbyists? Joy asked.
It is not possible to resist the trials. No international power will be able to influence this trial, he answered himself.
To Awami League the strength behind continuing the trial of war criminals is the support of mass people.
It is the demand of the common people and we are fulfilling it, said Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
He said, “Not that, we did not think about engaging such influences behind the trial process, but Awami League does not have that enough money to spend for this purpose. Moreover it found the money will be spent with no use.”
Once all the major war criminals will be hanged through the trial, the international pressures will gradually be lessened. It is not a permanent campaign. Once they will understand that this is useless to spend money for this campaign they will understand their mistakes, Joy opined.
He also said, “We know that whatever we are doing we are doing the right. Moreover, people’s demand is also in that favor. It is established on total falsehood what they wanted to tell the lobbyists. Further there is none supporting them except BNP. On the other hand we have the strength of truth. Over all we are confident that we must hold the trial of war criminals.”
Joy also claimed that by spending money and giving untruth information to the foreigners, Jamaat will not be able to proceed further.
The foreigners have understood the outlook of the successive two governments of BNP-Jamaat and Awami League while in power. It is also clear to them who patronized terrorism and who gave shelters to terrorists, he added.
Those countries were approached it must be kept in mind that they give highest importance to the security of the common people. They will see positively who ensures security of the people, he said.
The havoc which BNP and Jamaat have been carrying on by killing people throwing petrol bombs in the vehicles, uprooting the railway lines and on the other hand spending money behind the International lobbyists are futile exercises to protect the war criminals, the banglanews was told.
Joy observed that they can spend the money behind fruitless lobbying, which the BNP and Jamaat have amassed by terrorism and corruptions. “We cannot spend money for this useless work,” he said.
In response to another question, Joy told banglanews that the civil society, which is so concern about the trial they can even spend money for it. There is no justification that every thing shall have to be done by Awami League.
However, when the common people will resist them, this evil power will be subdued, Joy claimed.
He said, “People have seen their real face and then they will resist them. After the election is over all concern will go and then it will be easy to bend them.”
When banglanews asked that will the government go to more hard-line, he replied that the people will voluntarily resist them, the government will not have to do anything.”
Joy finally said, “The government resisted the possible terrorism that might occur on December 29 that if BNP–Jamaat could come to Dhaka on that day they would have set fire across the country.”
