VVIPs stay away from polling booth

DHAKA: For various reasons, the crem de la crem of Bangladesh will not be able to cast their vote in the 10th national elections on Sunday.

Among the VVIPs who will not be able to exercise their franchise are President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Jatiya Party President HM Ershad, former President A Q M Badruddoza Chowdhury and Ex-Prime Minister Kazi Zafar Ahmed and so on.

President Abdul Hamid is a voter of Kishoreganj-4 constituency where his son Rezwan Ahammed Taufique has already been elected MP uncontested because of BNP`s poll boycott.

For the very same reason, Sheikh Hasina can’t cast her vote in her Dhanmondi under Dhaka-10 constituent.

Similarly, former Chairman of Election Commission (EC) ATM Shamsul Huda will not be able to exercise his franchise as MP has been elected unopposed from Mr Huda`s constituency.

On the other hand BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, JP Chairman HM Ershad, former President A Q M Badruddoza Chowdhury and ex-Prime Minister Kazi Zafar Ahmed will not visit the polling booth as they are determined to boycott the highly contentious elections come what may.
