60-hour hartal observed

DHAKA: The 60-hour countrywide hartal, called by BNP-led 18-party alliance observed amid stray incidents of killing, picketing, chase and counter chase and blasts.

The opposition alliance extended 48-hour hartal demanding cancellation of the result of tenth parliamentary elections by 12-hour till Wednesday 6:00pm in protest against detaining the party leaders.

No untoward situation was reported in the capital during hartal hours.

Though any long distance vehicle did not ply Dhaka but vehicle movement through city streets remained normal.

Besides, Law enforcers were kept on alert to avert any untoward situation.

Army personnel were seen patrolling on roads, worked as striking force along with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

On Sunday afternoon, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Dr Osman Faruk in a press conference called the 48-hour hartal.
