DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of ruling Awami League urges BNP-led 18-party alliance to stop killing innocent people in the name of movement.
The premier came up with urge while addressing a mass rally of Awami League at historic Suhrawardy Udyan Friday on the occasion of ‘Homecoming Day’ of Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Sheikh Hasina said: “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman formed the country in new look when it was in devastating condition after returning from Pakistani jail in 1972.”
She alleged BNP-Jamaat is attacking on minorities in various districts for casting vote for Awami League on January 5 polls.
A stern action would be taken against the perpetrators and none would be spared, she warned.
The premier urged the BNP chief Khaleda Zia to shun the path of violence and give consent on new government.
She also urged the countrymen to resist the attackers besides the law enforcers.
Earlier Hasina took her seat at the stage of the rally at 03:49pm.
The rally started with the recitation of holy verses of Quran at 2:30pm on Friday.
Senior Awami League leaders including Obaidul Quader, Matiya Chowdhury, Amir Hossain Amu, Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury and Tofael Ahmed also spoke in the rally.
