DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday said the new government would not be a legitimate one.
“The government, to be formed on January 12, will be a non-representative autocratic government. The government won’t be recognized as a legal government both in the country and in international arena,” he said.
The spokesperson for the party came up with the assertion in a statement sent to different media in the afternoon.
He said, “There is no iota of democratic behaviour in the threats and warning towards the BNP by Sheikh Hasina.”
In the statement he added: “Again we want to emphasize the point that the government which is going to be formed on January 12 won’t be a people’s representative government.”
Fakhrul said: “It will be better for Awami League government to resign and arrange an inclusive election under the neutral caretaker government. Otherwise people will vie for their democratic rights.”
