DHAKA: Jatiya Party is mulling to hold councils as soon as possible to reconstitute its district and central committees where change may come in the post to secretary general of the party.
Golam Moshi, JP leader recently resigned from the party or Secretary General of parties those were formed after leaving BNP can be placed to this position, said party sources.
Party Chairman HM Ershad cannot trust present secretary general for his controversial role during the tenth national election.
The term of Jatiya Party central committee has expired long ago. Beside, six months time had been extended to avoid legal complications but the extended time also was expired, sources said.
Jatiya Party Office Secretary Sultan Mahmud told banglanews, “Initiatives has been taken to hold council to reconstitute district committees which were expired.”
After forming district committees, the central council will be held by March or April, he added.
Earlier on February 12, Ershad convened a meeting of leaders of party’s central and district committees but 30 members of the parliament of Jatiya Party including Raushan Ershad remained absent.
In reply to a question, Ruhul Amin Hawladar told banglanews, “If councilors elect me then I have no problem. But the councilors will determine the matter whether the Secretary General would be changed.”
