Handover power to non-party govt: BNP

DHAKA: Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday asked the government to handover of state power to a non-partisan government.

The spokesperson for the party made the plea in a statement in the evening.

Terming the day of oath (Sunday) a black day in Bangladesh’s history, he said, “The democracy of the country started a critical journey through the oath of an illegal and immoral government.”

An authoritarian government has begun its journey burying the spirit of democracy, he added in the statement.

Condemning this oath, he demanded of resignation of the government and handover the state power to a non-party government for holding a free and fair national election.
